"The Liver Will Love You For
This Healthy Liver Diet"

A healthy liver diet calms the liver and you. One of my clients used to love taking her lemon and water drink and she'd start feeling better right away. It was both a treat and a retreat for her. You too can get the same benefits by adding a few different foods into your diet and following some simple rules.

All liver imbalances originate with stagnancy and congestion in the liver. So a healthy Liver diet absolutely helps to move energy when it's stagnated. It also keeps energy moving and spreading to your limbs so that you use them. The Liver is the metabolic centre of the body.

What creates stagnancy and congestion in the Liver? Remember that the Liver is one of the major organs that's trying to clean out the body. The Kidney is the other one. The following list contains the items that create a very sluggish Liver:

Eliminate or greatly reduce foods which stagnate and/or damage the Liver which include:

a. Saturated fats such as lard, mammal meats, cream, cheese, and eggs.
b. Hydrogenated and poor-quality fats such as shortening, margarine, refined, and rancid oils. These could be found primarily in highly processed food, ordinary grocery stores, and restaurant meals.
c. Excesses in nuts and seeds.
d. Chemicals in food and water.
e. All intoxicants (including excessive imbibing of alcohol and recreational drugs).
f. Prescription drugs. *You'll have to consult your MD of course, but it's interesting that the warnings of many drugs include a warning that you shouldn't use it if there is liver damage. Many drugs can actually affect the liver for the worse if you take them a long time.*
g. Highly processed and refined foods.

A healthy liver diet includes these instead:

a. The first remedy is to eat less.
b. Eat at regular hours.
c. The diet should contain foods like young plants, fresh greens, sprouts, and immature wheat and other cereal grasses.
d. A small amount of alcohol can temporarily combat liver stagnancy, but excessive amounts make it worse. Alcohol consumption ultimately causes cell destruction and should be avoided.
e. Include small amounts of moderately pungent foods, spices, and herbs such as watercress, all members of the onion family, mustard greens, turmeric, basil, bay leaf, cardamon, marjoram, cumin, fennel, dill, ginger, black pepper, horseradish, rosemary, various mints, lemon balm.
f. Avoid very pungent or spicy food like fiery hot peppers, as this could aggravate the liver.
g. Include foods that are not pungent or only mildly so such as beets, taro root, sweet rice, strawberry, peach, cherry, chestnut, pine nut, cabbage, turnip, kohlrabi, cauliflower, broccoli, and brussel sprouts.
h. Use sprouted grains, beans, and seeds, fresh vegetables and fruits.
i. Drink a mixture of lemon, lime, or grapefruit juice, honey, and water once per day. Mix 1 teaspoon of one of these juices with 1 teaspoon of honey per cup of water.
j. Other bitter foods are rye, romaine lettuce, asparagus, amaranth, quinoa, alfalfa, radish leaves, and citrus peel.
k. Eat celery, kelp (seaweeds), lettuce, cucumber, watercress, tofu, millet, plum, chlorophyll-rich foods such as cereal grasses and their products and micro-algae such as spirulina, wild blue-green and chlorella, mushrooms, rhubarb root or stem, radish, daikon radish, parsley, kale, and collard greens.

There you have it. This is the healthy liver diet I promised you. You may have noticed that there's some overlap between the Organ Systems. That's not surprising since every Organ System influences the others. When they're all working well, then they work well together. If one system becomes damaged, it inevitably influences the others, too, in sickness. So by taking care of each system by eating foods and therefore, enjoying different flavours, textures, and energetics of these foods, you'll be enjoying a wide variety. Not just variety but also including food combining to enjoy a truly balanced diet for well being.
